What is Pilates?
Pilates is a series of exercises designed to strengthen and align your body. It works the deep postural muscles making it perfect for those with back problems. The workout itself is gentle, although can feel intense, but you won’t sweat. Discover how wonderful your body feels after just one session. Your body heals & recovers quicker when everything is in alignment.
There are two types of Pilates sessions:
Matwork is performed on the floor with most of the exercises done lying either on your back, side or tummy. Modifications can be made for those that have problems being in certain positions eg: pregnant. I like to use therabands & rings for more variety and a larger exercise repertoire.
Equipment sessions are performed either as a private session or in groups of up to 5. You will not find these pieces in gyms so the workout is something that very few people have experienced. It involves a lot of concentration and you will learn body awareness and balance.
